Matryoshka
Created for (in)sane MCR, a multimedia arts festival and open discussion about mental health.
(in)sane MCR staged two days of events, performances and installations in support of the The Horsfall at 42nd Street, an award-winning charity supporting young people’s mental health through a program of counselling and creative arts engagement.
I created a set of Matryoshka (aka Nesting or Russian dolls) for the event. We all have layers, and the public exterior doesn’t always match up with the thoughts and emotions that can be going unnoticed below the surface. Mental health issues are not always obvious, though that doesn’t mean that they may not be there. The Matryoshka were created to start discussions around this subject in a fun and engaging manner.
The dolls now have a permanent home inside the The Horsfall’s Manchester HQ.
